Here are some pictures of Iqaluit as I was spending the night there. Some of the things I love In Nunavut so far are the colours on the exterior of the homes. Nice, bright, bold colors make everything stand out and look beautiful. I wish we used color more in our homes as it brightens the spirit. Every color has a special meaning and is supposed to help that part of your spirit. Blue is supposed to give you intuition and inner peace. Green for balance and healing. Yellow for happiness and intellect. Red for passion and energy. Orange for creativity and vitality. Violet for spiritual awareness and transformation.

There was no yellow as I was paying for a hotel room, though. The rooms were a little pricey. It costs $400 plus tax to stay the night at a hotel. With be being classed a government worker. I got a room for $300, and I will get reimbursed for the room as well. The rooms were very nice, and there were photos of Inuit before they started staying in one spot and stopped travelling with the herds. These photos were on every floor, with about 20 in each hallway. There are 525 rooms in the hotel. With my co-worker’s recommendation we wandered to the 64-million-dollar pool that was just finished being built. Sorry, I totally forgot about pictures while I was there. We got lunch at one of the restaurants there, a pita shop, and you got a pretty good deal for what you got. Then we went back to the hotel. I had to chuckle as my co-worker told me I needed to dress warm for the walk. But he was freezing by the time we got back. He ran the last little bit back. The wind was a little brisk and minus 30, but sorry Sask. folks, It’s no different. I was very worried that being by the ocean and stuff that it would be a humid cold, but no weather wise it is no different than home for me. There are a couple bars and stuff, but they were on the other side of town, and my co-worker didn’t want to go, so we stayed at the hotel.

I had supper at the hotel at the restaurant. I was very worried about what It cost like to eat there but the restaurant was actually very reasonable. I had a beer for $9 and a large pizza for $34 those prices are very much on par with home.

Got up in the morning and I had heard a rumour that there was something here. I had to see for myself if this rumour was true so I got dressed and headed out to see if I could find it. That is my next post. And yes, there is a picture of my ugly mug in the photos above.
