When I first went grocery shopping, I found It very tough I thought things were expensive back in Sask, but nothing compares to the hit you get here. These are all discounted prices as well so there is a subsidy discount for every item on my receipt. One litre of canola oil is over $16.00 before the subsidy. There was a really good deal on frozen vegetables they came to 45 cents after subsidy, but you need to know when those things are going to hit shelves because they were gone in no time flat. The fresh vegetables are not going to last long so you need to buy and cook right away. Things like a can of pop is $6. All the meats are frozen with minimal selections. You need to be very aware of expiration dates. For example, the other day there was a 50% off sale on pepperoni sticks but the expiry date for one was Nov 24. The cake I don’t know what to say a hundred and fifty there is no way I would even consider that one. The one cake there has been in the freezer for over 2 months from what I was informed. There is fresh baking you can get out of the store as well. Junk food and sweets are very expensive. A bag of Skittles was $9.99 and a bag of chips was $9.99. This is a good place to lose weight. Nonperishables I’m going to get on Amazon, and I found a place In Ottawa that sends meat up North frozen but much cheaper and better quality. You can also order Hello Fresh meals to get delivered here as well which could be a good option as well. Meal planning for months in advance.
